You will ride camels at sunset, spend the night in a Sahara desert camp, discover Berber villages, and return to Marrakech through scenic valleys, kasbah routes, and mountain landscapes.
Day 1
Your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech begins with pickup from your hotel, riad, or preferred meeting point after breakfast. Leave the city behind and travel through the High Atlas Mountains along the famous Tizi n'Tichka Pass, reaching an altitude of more than 2,200 meters. The road offers panoramic views of mountain villages, valleys, and traditional Berber landscapes, with several opportunities for photos along the way. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its impressive earthen architecture and ancient fortified village. After the visit, enjoy lunch in the area before continuing toward Ouarzazate, often described as Morocco’s gateway to the desert because of its film studios and kasbahs. In the afternoon, continue through the Rose Valley, known for its rose products and seasonal landscapes, before arriving in the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a comfortable hotel or riad in the Dades area.
Day 2
After breakfast, continue your journey through the Dades region and along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing traditional villages, palm groves, and desert valleys. The first major stop of the day is Todra Gorges, one of the most impressive natural canyons in Morocco. You will have time to walk between the high rock walls and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the oasis. The route then continues through Tinjdad and Jorf, areas known for palm groves and old irrigation systems. Later, reach Erfoud, famous for fossils, dates, and its desert trade heritage. In the afternoon, arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga. From there, begin your camel ride across the golden dunes at sunset while your luggage is transferred separately to the camp. After arriving at the desert camp, enjoy dinner, Berber music, and a peaceful night under the stars.
Day 3
Wake up early to admire the sunrise over the Sahara dunes, a memorable moment of the desert experience. After breakfast at the camp, return by camel or 4x4 to the village where your driver will be waiting. Begin the road back toward the west, passing again through Erfoud and the desert towns of the region. Depending on timing, you may stop to visit a fossil workshop or enjoy views of the palm groves along the way. Continue toward Todra Gorges and the Dades region, then travel through the Rose Valley, where local cooperatives produce rose water, oils, and cosmetic products. The journey continues through kasbah landscapes and southern Moroccan scenery before arriving in Ouarzazate in the afternoon or evening. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 4
After breakfast, start the final day with time to explore Ouarzazate, depending on your schedule. You may visit Taourirt Kasbah or pass by the famous cinema studios before continuing toward Ait Ben Haddou and the High Atlas Mountains. The route returns through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, offering another opportunity to enjoy mountain views, Berber villages, and scenic stops along the way. Lunch can be arranged in a local village or restaurant during the journey. In the afternoon, continue toward Marrakech, where your driver will drop you off at your hotel, riad, or preferred location. This marks the end of your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
